Who's Who & News

We are a small group of parents and carers who get together to discuss how to raise money to provide resources to enhance the children’s learning and wellbeing and provide new experiences. As well as raising funds, we also aim to enhance the sense of community within the school by providing fun events which bring together parents, staff, pupils, carers and the wider Corsham community.

Examples of recent events include Christmas Fayre with Santa's Grotto, Autumn and Christmas parties, Summer Fete, Easter Cafe and discos. We also got involved in community events, including Corsham Street Fair and marshalling the Corsham 10K race. In 2018, we entered a running team of adults and children into the 2K and 10K races, raising over £1000 in sponsorship. We hope to have even more runners taking part in 2019.

So far in 2018/19, we have funded new playground markings for KS1 and KS2 and allocated funding towards school trip subsidies and paid for writing resources, Christmas parties (with a visit from Santa with presents for all), Wow Day, crafts and a theatre visit. We also gave each class and the nurture room £150 each to spend on whatever they needed most, and this has funded all sorts of things from bookcases and dictionaries to golden time games and puzzles. After recently supporting Corsham Regis to become a Thrive School by contributing to the online platform, we purchased resources for the new Thrive room to support children's emotional and mental wellbeing and readiness to learn.

As well as organising fundraising events, we raise funds by applying for grants and other schemes which allow us to make an even bigger impact. Here are some examples:

  • In 2017, we successfully secured £5,000 of matched funding from Corsham Area Board which enabled us to finally get new play equipment for the KS1 playground. Working in partnership with the Brunel Shed who we met at the Corsham Area Board meeting also enabled our funds to go further, as they built us some fantastic new play equipment, including a safari jeep, boat and puzzle table.
  • In 2016, we part-funded the purchase of new literacy software jointly with The Methuen Trust.
  • In 2019, we successfully got through to the final stage of the Tesco Bags of Help scheme and have until end February for customers to vote for our project to further improve our outdoor spaces (if you are in Tesco in Chippenham please put a token in our slot!). We have the opportunity to receive up to £4,000 depending on how many tokens we get.
  • In 2019, we're also trialling a new scheme to raise funds for school gardening through purchasing discounted garden centre gift cards, which has the added bonus of saving you money too!
  • Plus we've hit over £300 of free donations from the Giving Machine, raised by our supporters shopping online.

In January 2018, we became a registered charity which enables us to apply for more types of grant funding. If you are aware of donations or matched funding opportunities through your bank, employer, supermarket or insurance company, do let us know. Our charity registration number is 1176473.

We are always looking for more parents and carers to help out – whether you are interested in joining the Committee, helping out as and when you can with events, or supporting us with writing fundraising applications, please get in touch via the school office or by email friendsofregis@gmail.com. Our supporters are vital to ensure we can run successful events and raise funds to enhance our children's school experience. As a very small team of busy people, we know the challenges of juggling busy jobs and families and really value whatever time people can give to support our school.
