Welcome to Turquoise Class.
Mrs Ford (Mon-Wed) and Mrs Cooke (Thurs-Fri) will be the teachers for Turquoise class this year, supported by classroom assistant Mrs Bishop.
The Summer Term brings Round the World fun (Term 5) and then Around our school investigation (Term 6). The children have asked lots of excellent questions about the world and our school grounds and we will endeavour to find out the answers through a cross curricular approach to learning.
Summer Term P.E Times:
From Monday 8th May Turquoise class will be swimming – please look out for further information about this very soon.
Tuesdays will be PE mentoring from Up and Under Sports on Athletics & Striking and Fielding.
Sports Day is on Thursday 15th June – remember your child will need a coloured t-shirt to match their Kings house colour.
Please ensure that your child has their swimming kit in school on a Monday and a full PE kit to be left in school. (Tuesday is our official PE day but we will be doing additional practising for sports day also.)
The month of May is SATS for the Year 2 children. Much of the teacher assessment for Writing, Reading and Maths has already been completed and will continue during the summer term. The children will be sitting a Maths and Reading test paper which will be described to them as a ‘special booklet’ and we would appreciate your continued support in NOT discussing the SATS with them in order that they do not feel any stress or pressure.
As always, if you have any queries, or you would like to have more information, please come and see us after school for a chat!
Everyday, during the morning, the children will have a Writing session which includes Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPaG), a Reading lesson and a Maths lesson. The afternoons are mostly focussed around topic - History, Geography, Art, Design & Technology and Science. Computing will be taught as a discreet subject for specific skills as well as being used in other subjects, as will Learn for Life our Personal, Social & Health Education programme. This year, for the first time, we are planning to teach the RE curriculum for 1 full day per term and Music will be taught in a Music week.
