Corsham Regis Primary School was established in 1943, to accommodate the increasing number of children from service families and evacuees, from London and Bristol. In 1982, the new buildings were occupied. The school is situated within a relatively modern housing estate to the north of Corsham. Corsham is a small historic, rural town within easy access of Bath.
We cater for children aged four to eleven years old. Currently, there are 190 children at the school split into 7 classes. We have a teaching assistant working alongside each teacher, which also provides a good ratio for children’s support. Playworkers are employed for both KS1 and KS2, allowing transition between school time and lunch time to be effective.
We share our site with abc Nursery, a privately owned nursery, with which we have a close relationship. Corsham Regis is situated within a relatively modern residential area to the north of Corsham, just off the Main A4 road, in King’s Avenue. The main building has seven classrooms, a fully equipped and functional ICT suite, communal areas for small group work and a large hall. It has an undercover area for our younger children to play and work throughout the year. The large grounds are well maintained with two playgrounds, two wooden play areas, and seating. The huge offsite playing field is just two minutes walk away.
Our new kitchen helps us to choose a balanced meal and eat sensibly. We also really enjoy sports. We are really proud to have secured the Healthy Eating Award for the next three years.
We also believe that the Foundation Stage is an extremely important part of the school for our youngest members to promote a positive school experience, enjoy school, learn to develop a sense of ownership, pride and thirst for learning. Because of this, we have be awarded The Bristol Standards for excellence in the Early Years provision.
The School Council has worked very closely with the Governing Body and together they have secured funding for a Travel Plan. We aim to encourage children to walk to school and where they cycle, to erect bike stands. We shall also provide a scheme called "Bikability" to ensure children cycle safely. The school gates will be closed enabling the school grounds to be safer for all.
